As part of our team, you will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, environmental factors, and equity considerations. Your work will help shape climate action strategies, policies, and initiatives for our clients. We typically employ Excel, Tableau, Word, and PowerPoint to produce our deliverables.

Projects you may be working on include:

Power a Clean Future Ohio: Providing members with technical assistance including: greenhouse gas inventories, tree canopy assessments, solar market analysis, and emission reduction analyses.

US EPA’s Climate Pollution Reduction Grant: Developing greenhouse gas inventories, energy and emissions forecasting, goal setting, and quantifying climate measures.

Targeted Research Projects: Often we are asked to create very specific analyses for various topics including semiconductors, energy burden, industrial decarbonization, zoning ordinances, and building codes.

Your Projects: We fully support our team in pursuing ideas and concepts that excite them. We encourage you to take UNPREDICTABLEcity in new directions.

    Key Responsibilities

    Data Collection and Management:

    • Gather, organize, and maintain datasets related to energy usage, emissions, environmental indicators, and equity metrics.

    • Collaborate with internal and external sources to ensure data accuracy and completeness.

    Data Analysis:

    • Utilize statistical and analytical tools to process and analyze complex datasets.

    • Identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform climate action strategies and initiatives.

    Reporting and Visualization:

    • Prepare clear and concise reports and visualizations to communicate data findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

    • Develop interactive dashboards and data visualizations to facilitate decision-making.

    Climate Impact Assessment:

    • Assess the environmental and equity impacts of climate policies, initiatives, and projects.

    • Provide recommendations to optimize sustainability efforts.

    Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with external partners, organizations, and data sources to enhance data quality and insights.

    Continuous Improvement:

    Qualifications

    • Proven experience in data analysis, data management, and statistical tools.

    • Strong proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, or similar).

    • Knowledge of climate science, energy, emissions, and sustainability concepts.

    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

    • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

    • Passion for climate action and environmental sustainability.

Prior to hiring, we will want to know that you:

    • Have the ability to analyze data and keep it organized in Excel. (Can you rock an xlookup without even thinking about it? Do you ensure proper notation, sources, metadata, etc.?)

    • Have the ability to create a dashboard in Tableau or PowerBI that can display data at the census tract level? (We’ll want to see an example)

    • Have a general understanding of the connections between energy, emissions, climate change, equity, and health. (We’re happy to teach the details, but we’d also like to learn from you)

    • Are a decent human being that sees the world as an inherently beautiful place worthy of our best efforts. (We’re big on kindness)
